![]() In 2022, Pink Floyd released their first new single in more than 25 years in support of the people of Ukraine. The statement added: "He is currently taking advice as to his position." 'Female First UK' further states that in response, a statement on Waters' Twitter page says he is "aware of the incendiary and wildly inaccurate comments made about him on Twitter by Polly Samson which he refutes entirely." "Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac. Samson - whose father was a Jew who fled Nazi Germany - later alleged on Twitter: "Sadly you are antisemitic to your rotten core." Sharing a link to the article, he claimed over the weekend that it had been published "against the backdrop of the outrageous and despicable smear campaign by the Israel Lobby to denounce me as an anti-Semite, WHICH I AM NOT, NEVER HAVE BEEN and NEVER WILL BE (sic)." Waters has previously referred to Putin as a gangster, and said in the new interview that the country had been provoked into invading Ukraine by the actions of Nato and the US. The author-and-lyricist - who worked with her husband on songs for Pink Floyd's 1994 album 'The Division Bell' - appeared to be responding to an interview Waters gave to a German newspaper, in which he defended some of Russia's actions in the war with Ukraine, reports 'Female First UK'. Polly Samson claims that bassist Waters, 79, holds anti-Semitic views and is a 'Vladimir Putin apologist', and her guitarist husband Gilmour, 76, shared her message on Twitter along with the statement "every word demonstrably true". Waters threatened legal action and, then speaking to The Telegraph , claimed Gilmour and late Pink Floyd member Rick Wright "can’t write songs. They have no ideas, not a single one between them.Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's wife has accused his former bandmate Roger Waters of being an anti-Semite. Earlier this month, Gilmour's partner, Polly Samson, tweeted a slew of insults at Waters, to which Gilmour added, "Every word demonstrably true.” Of course, there still hasn't been any resolution between Waters and Gilmour regarding their most recent war of words. He then addressed Maconie, writing, "Please check your copy with the subjects of your grubby little piece, before you go to print." The current version of Maconie's article now notes that the El Pais quote has been removed. He continued, "I was there, I love Dave's guitar solos on DSOTM, both of them, and on and on ANIMALS and on THE WALL and on THE FINAL CUT.Dave's solos on those albums constitute a collection of some of the very best guitar solos in the history of Rock and Roll." Though Roger Waters and David Gilmour may be at odds in the media recently, Waters recently took umbrage with an article that suggested that he was not a fan of David Gilmour's musical work. The past 24 hours have seen Gilmour and his wife, Polly Samson, take aim at Waters over a recent interview he did with German newspaper. For those hopeful they’d resolve their differences, that appears not to be happening anytime soon. ![]() Referring to the "horrible guitar solos" quote, Waters wrote, "I don't know who he thinks he's quoting when he says Gilmour's 'horrible guitar solos' but it sure as s**t ain't me." David Gilmour and Roger Waters have engaged in their war of words in the media for several years now. ![]() In a Twitter posting, Waters said he had to "set the record straight" about something in Maconie's story. In response, Waters, 79, says he is considering potential legal action. Waters took issue with a piece that journalist Stuart Maconie wrote for the British publication New Statesman. In it, he referred to an article in the Spanish paper El Pais that quoted Waters as saying he was planning to remove Gilmour's "horrible guitar solos" from his new version of The Dark Side of the Moon. In a video posted on Tuesday, Waters ripped his ex-Pink Floyd bandmate, saying that Gilmour cut off his access to the Pink Floyd website and that Gilmour thinks he owns it. Roger Waters and David Gilmour are currently feuding, but Waters took to social media to declare that he has nothing but admiration for his former bandmate's ability to play guitar.
